Scarecrows To Take Over Old Wethersfield

WETHERSFIELD, CT — More than 170 scarecrows will line Main Street in Old Wethersfield throughout October as a popular fall tradition returns for its 31st year.

The 31st annual "Scarecrows Along Main" runs from Oct. 1 through Oct. 31, transforming the historic district into an outdoor gallery of handmade scarecrows.

Residents, families, businesses, nonprofits, organizations, and community groups created this year's displays, which range from humorous and whimsical to spooky.

The monthlong event is free and open to the public.

Scarecrows will be displayed outside businesses and at other locations along Main Street, allowing visitors to explore them at their own pace.

Organizers are also encouraging visitors to stop at locally owned shops, restaurants, cafés, museums, galleries, and other businesses while walking through the historic district.

Accessible parking will be available at the First Church parking lot in the center of Main Street.

Scarecrows Along Main began more than three decades ago as an initiative of the Old Wethersfield Shopkeepers Association, a nonprofit organization that supports local businesses and promotes Old Wethersfield's history and character.

The display has since grown into an annual October tradition, with more than 170 scarecrows participating in 2026.
