Serious Crash Closes Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield
A serious crash took place ion the Berlin Turnpike at lunchtime, police said.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A serious motor vehicle on the Berlin Turnpike shut down the road at lunchtime on Thursday, police said.
At 12:41 p.m., officers from the Wethersfield Police Department responded to a report of a car versus tractor trailer accident on the Berlin Turnpike at the intersection with Arrow Road.
Numerous officers, Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department personnel and ambulance personnel arrived on scene and immediately began treating the car’s two occupants for serious injuries, police said.

Both occupants were transported to an area hospital by ambulance, police said.
The truck driver refused medical attention at the scene, police said.

The Berlin Turnpike northbound was closed to traffic at Wells Road (Route 175) for a short time while the on-scene investigation took place.
Members of the Midstate Accident Reconstruction Team were on scene and continue to investigate and the road was reopened around 4:30 p.m., police said.
