Teen Charged With Killing Another Teen in Wethersfield

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A teen has been charged with shooting another teen to death in Wethersfield, police said Friday.

At 8:17 p.m. on Thursday, several officers responded to a home on Alison Lane after a 911 caller reported a person had been shot, police said. The caller reported that his friend, a 16-year-old boy, had been shot and the suspect left the home in a vehicle, police said.

Several officers arrived at the scene and discovered a 16-year-old dead from a gunshot wound, police said.

A description of the suspect and his vehicle was broadcast to other police units and two Wethersfield officers located the vehicle on Ridge Road near Jordan Lane and detained the suspect, police said.

"They were in the right place at the right time and it was good work on the part of the officers," police chief James Cetran said. Cetran added that the arrest was within an hour of the initial call.

The suspect was identified by police as Noah Hendron, 18, of Ridge Road in Wethersfield.

He was charged with murder and criminal use of a firearm, police said.

Hendron was held overnight on a $1 million bond and appeared in New Britain Superior Court on Friday, police said. He remained in custody on that bond and is scheduled to appear again on Nov. 21, a clerk at the court said.

Officers and Detectives from the Wethersfield Police Department were assisted at the scene scene by inspectors from New Britain Superior Court. The State Police Central District Major Crime Squad arrived and processed the crime scene, police said.

The weapon was a handgun, Cetran said. He also said Hendron "was in the system," meaning police have encountered him before.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Farmington, police said. He was a junior at Wethersfield high school and Hendron was a 2017 graduate, school officials said. Counseling is being made available at the school, officials said.

"We will try to help the kids make sense of the senseless," Superintendent of Schools Michael Emmett said.

He added, "The loss of our student was a terrible tragedy. Our response today was to support our students and staff. Counseling support was offered throughout the day and will be ongoing as students and/or staff need it."
