Thunderstorms Possible, Excessive Heat Definite in Connecticut: Latest Updates
Thousands of Connecticut residents are waking up without power Sunday morning after storms moved through areas of the state.

When it comes to consecutive days in Connecticut with “Hazardous Weather Outlooks” issued we’re starting to catch up to Michael Phelps record medal total.
For more than a week now, the National Weather Service has issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” and that is again the case for Sunday. The “Hazardous Weather Outlook” Sunday is for continued oppressive heat, it will feel like 105 degrees today, and of course strong to severe thunderstorms could move in without much notice causing havoc.
Overnight Saturday, isolated storms moved through parts of Connecticut leaving more than 2,200 residents without power Sunday morning. Leading the way are Newtown, 323, Danbury, 220, and Stamford with 120 outages.

And based on the forecast through the middle of next week, it looks like the heat continues, though not as hot as this weekend, and there is a chance for more thunderstorms on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Next Saturday’s forecast, bright sunshine and a temperature of only around 80 degrees. How great is that?

Here is the latest forecast from the National Weather Service:
Southern Connecticut:
Sunday: Temps in the mid 90s and it will feel like 108 degrees! Again, a chance of isolated showers and storms arriving after 10 a.m. and if we receive storms, expect heavy rain and strong winds. Partly sunny. More showers and storms are possible tonight, mainly before midnight. Temps drop to only 75 degrees.
Monday: Mostly sunny, and we hit 90 degrees again and it will feel like 95. But no showers or storms in the forecast, for now at least.
Northern Connecticut:
Sunday: The National Weather Service says strong to severe thunderstorms are possible mainly from late morning into early evening hours, and some storms could lead to damaging winds, frequent lightning and heavy downpours.
It will also feel like 106 degrees with temps in the lower 90s. The weather service says showers and storms are most likely after 5 p.m. in northern Connecticut. And the chance for rain is strongest up until 10 p.m.
Monday: Mostly sunny with a high near 90 degrees.
