Towing Group Asking DMV For Fee Increases
A public hearing on proposed towing fee increases is set for next month.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A group representing tow truck companies is asking state regulators to consider raising the fees for what is termed "nonconsensual" services.
That's a fancy name for taking away impounded cars.
On Oct. 10, the Towing and Recovery Professionals of Connecticut filed a petition with the state Department of Motor Vehicles asking for rate increases for nonconsensual towing fees, service charges and storage fees.

See the current rates here. They are governed by Section 14-66 of the Connecticut General Statutes.
A public hearing on the request has been scheduled for 9 a.m. on Dec. 6 in Room 2A of the Legislative Office Building, 300 Capitol Avenue, Hartford.
