Underground Gas Leak Causes Road Closure Near Berlin Turnpike: FD

Investigators are looking into a propane leak at Extra Space Storage on Oleson Road, which is expected to remain closed for several hours.

WETHERSFIELD, CT – A local road at the intersection of the Berlin Turnpike is expected to remain closed for several hours Tuesday after crews were sent to a storage facility to investigate a gas leak.

Wethersfield Fire officials said that a leaking underground propane tank at the Extra Space storage facility on Oleson Road brought investigators to the scene Tuesday morning, Fox 61 reported.

Officials told the station that someone smelled gas around 11 a.m. and called the fire department to report the problem.

No injuries were reported at the site and environmental crews are at the site to look into the leak, which is preventing Oleson Road from reopening.
