Updated Report Identifies Man Involved in Sunday Police Shooting
State police released new information Monday.

THOMASTON, CT - State Police said detectives from the Central District Major Crime unit are continuing to investigate a fatal police-involved shooting Sunday in Thomaston.
On Monday, they identified the deceased as Daniel Reyes, 27, of 700 High St. Thomaston.
Reyes was armed with a knife during the incident, state police said.

On Sunday, the Thomaston Police Department was dispatched to a reported disturbance at
700 High St. Ext. in Thomaston.
When they arrived, officers encountered a male suspect armed with a weapon, according to a state police report.

The suspect - Reyes - approached police officers, ignoring demands to stop and a Thomaston Police Officer discharged his duty weapon, at least one time, striking the suspect, according to a state police report.
The suspect was transported to Waterbury Hospital for evaluation where he was later pronounced dead.
There were no other reported injuries.
That day, the Thomaston Police Department requested the assistance of state troopers from Troop L in Litchfield and state police detectives from the major crimes unit, according to the report. Major crimes detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation, state police said.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
The officer was not injured. His identity is still pending, state police said.
