Wethersfield Graduate Selected in Major League Baseball Draft

WETHERSFIELD, CT — After three days, 40 rounds and 1,215 names announced, the Major League Baseball draft ended Wednesday with 15 players with Connecticut ties selected by major league organizations.

Among the draftees was Wethersfield High School graduate Ryan Costello, selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 31st round with the 933rd overall pick. The third baseman was taken after three years at Central Connecticut State University, where he compiled a .290 batting average with 14 home runs, 86 runs batted in and 33 doubles in 125 games.

At Wethersfield, Costello was an All-State and All-CCC selection.
