Wethersfield Obituary: Albert Donnestad, 78

Condolences to his family and friends.

Albert "Al" E. Donnestad, 78, of Middletown, beloved husband for 40 years of Rosemary (Kear) Donnestad, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Kingston, NY on July 22, 1937, he was the son of the late Albert E. and Bessie (Krom) Donnestad. Al was a U.S. Army veteran. Al earned a BS in Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He spent 35 years in the insurance business working for various companies and brokerages.

He was a member of the Wethersfield United Methodist Church. Al was a Sequin-Level Masonic Lodge #140 AF & AM member and was also a Shriner and member of the Sphinx Temple and the Funster Clown Unit, as well as the Hartford Lodge, Sons of Norway. Al enjoyed playing piano and singing in the church choir.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Al will be dearly missed by his wife Rosemary; son, Kenneth Donnestad and wife Tracy of Montville; daughter, Karen Klawin and husband Mark of Loveland, CO; stepson, Dennis Madden and fiancée Terry Race of Fulton, NY; stepdaughters, Maureen Madden and partner Al DeRosa of Manchester and Janet Stammely and husband Tim of Sandown, NH; nine adored grandchildren, Matthew and Samantha Klawin, Thomas, Patrick and Melissa Lapointe, Sean Madden and Courtney Race and Jillian and Summer Stammely and two cherished great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Clark and Malloree Wentworth.

Funeral services will be Wednesday (May 25) at 12 noon at Wethersfield United Methodist Church, 150 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Miner Cemetery, Middletown. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday (May 24) from 4-7 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
