Wethersfield Obituary: Anthony Pompei, 74

Condolences to his family and friends.

Anthony "Tony" Pompei, 74, of Wethersfield and Highland Lake, Winchester, beloved husband for 49 years of Virginia (Bushnell) Pompei, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017.

Born in Manchester on October 14, 1942, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Saimond) Pompei. After graduation, Tony served four years in the U.S. Army, two of them in Germany. He worked for Pratt & Whitney for 35 years.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Church in Hartford for many years, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, Trustee for 10 years, and holding the positions of Vice President and President of the Holy Trinity Men's Club. He also was in charge of the annual Lithuanian Day Picnic. Most meaningful to Tony was being given the title of Honorary Member of the Lithuanian Community.

An avid fisherman, Tony spent many enjoyable days fishing in the ocean and on the rivers of Connecticut with his buddies, Dr. Bob and Fr. John.

He is survived by his loving wife Virginia; dear sister-in-law, Joan Moulton; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and many friends. A kind, loving and gentle soul, Tony will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
