Wethersfield Obituary: Betty Ruscoe, 99

Betty Ruscoe, 99, died Saturday, May 5th, 2018 at the Masonic Health Care Center in Wallingford.

She was born in Newtown on December 12th, 1918, daughter of the late George U. and Grace Johnson Burr, and was raised there before coming to Wethersfield in 1942. She graduated from Danbury Teachers College in 1939, and started teaching in the Newtown District at a one room school in Brookfield.

Betty was a 74 year member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational, in Wethersfield, where, over the years, she volunteered in the Sunday School and Thrift Shop. She also volunteered in Brownies, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, in October of 2000. She is survived by her son Alan B. Ruscoe, and spouse Roger Castellani of Provincetown, Massachusetts, a daughter and son-in-law, Carol R. and Howard G. Langdon of Solomons, Maryland, two grandsons, Howard G. Langdon III, of Centerville, Ohio, and David S. Langdon of Alexandria, Virginia, and three great-grandchildren, Daniel of Centerville, and Sara and Natalia of Alexandria.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, May 10th, at the Village Cemetery, 1 Marsh Street, Wethersfield.
