Wethersfield Obituary: Carmen DeMartino, 86

Condolences to his family and friends.

Carmen John DeMartino, 86, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2016.

Born in Hartford on July 16, 1930, he was the son of the late Frank and Frances (Janangelo) DeMartino. Carmen graduated from Bloomfield High School and served proudly in the U.S. Navy. He was the owner of C. DeMartino Construction for many years before retiring and becoming the proprietor of Carmichael’s Restaurant. Carmen loved to visit the casinos and play black jack. He also enjoyed painting, rides to the beach and singing, especially at Bill’s Seafood in Westbrook.

A loving father and grandfather, Carmen will be dearly missed by three children, Robert M. DeMartino of Wethersfield, Debra Caruso and husband Mark and Jill Minnocci and husband Sam, all of Windsor Locks and his six adored grandchildren, Vanessa and husband William, Liana, Angelina, Carina, Mark Jr. and wife Marlo, Gina and husband Sean. He is also survived by his brother, Dominick DeMartino, as well as his life-long friend Robert Feeley along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Frank DeMartino.

Funeral services will begin Friday (November 4) at 8:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy., Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Donations in Carmen’s memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 N. Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.
