Wethersfield Obituary: LeRoy Seaton, 93

LeRoy B. Seaton, 93, of Granby, beloved husband for 74 years of Audrey (Hollis) Seaton, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016 in Simsbury.

Born in Wethersfield on August 16, 1922, son of the late Benjamin and Ethel (Burnham) Seaton, he was raised in Wethersfield and had lived in the Elmwood section of West Hartford before moving to Granby almost 60 years ago. Roy served in the U.S. Air Force and the Connecticut Air National Guard for over 38 years until his honorable discharge as a Chief Master Sergeant. He served in World War II and the Korean War and was recognized numerous times for his service to his country and the State of Connecticut over his four decades in the military.

Roy also worked at the Bushnell Performing Arts Center in Hartford as a theatrical stage hand in his off hours. He was a life member of Sequin-Level Lodge #140 in Newington as well as a life member of the Windsor Lodge of Elks, B.P.O.E. #2080 in Windsor. Roy was recognized for his service to Elks Lodge in Windsor and had received the honor of "Elk of the Year".

A resident of Granby for most of his life, Roy was a member of the Granby Civil Defense in 1960's and 1970's, he was a member the First Congregational Church in Granby, and in recent years he and his wife were active members of the Granby Senior Center. Proud of his military service, Roy was also a member of Shannon-Shattuck Post #182, American Legion in Granby, and was active in their many community activities and service projects for the Town of Granby. He was recently honored for 70 years of service to the American Legion.

Besides his loving wife, Audrey, he leaves two daughters, Dorcus S. Forsyth and her husband Thomas of Granby and Dale S. Chamberlain and her husband Kevin of Granby; a son, Craig H. Seaton and his wife Holly of Waddell, AZ; four grandchildren, Todd Forsyth and his wife Tracy of Granby, Kurt Forsyth and his wife Allison of Granby, Brett Seaton of Phoenix, AZ, and Kent Chamberlain of Granby; two great grandchildren, Paige and Kyle Forsyth of Granby, sister-in-law, Dorothy Seaton of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Phillip, Emner, and Kenny Seaton; and three sisters, Phyllis St. Martin, Elizabeth Stevenson, and Shirley Bruneau.

His family will receive friends on Monday, July 11, 4-7 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 10 a.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, Granby. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Granby Cemetery, Granby.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Shannon-Shattuck Post #182, American Legion, P.O. Box 182, Granby, CT 06035.
