Wethersfield Obituary: Sarah Croft, 85

Condolences to her family and friends.

Sarah C. Croft, 85, widow of Renaldo "Todd" Croft, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2016 after a long illness. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend who cherished time spent with family and made sure anyone who visited was well fed.

She was born in Campobasso, Italy to the late Joseph and Emily (D'Agata) Carlozzi and moved to New Britain where she lived for 50 years before moving to Wethersfield in 1997. She graduated from New Britain High School, where she was an excellent student and took great pride in being "the only girl in the all-boys math group."

Sarah was employed by National Automatic Machine Shop before leaving to raise her family. She was a member of Church of the Incarnation as well as a member of the Italian Junior League, serving as president for the year 1986-87.

An accomplished cook, Sarah enjoyed telling stories, music, singing, and UConn women's basketball. She will be remembered for her intelligence, insights, sense of humor, and the great care she gave to others, including her parents. Her children were all in their 40s before realizing she was usually right, most of the time.

Sarah is survived by her son, Paul, of Everett, MA, and daughters Diane Lowe and her husband, Peter, of Newington, and Lori Richter and her husband, Kenneth, of Newington. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Rio and her husband, Richard, of Lady Lake, FL, grandchildren Brian, Christopher, and Adam Lowe, as well as various nieces and nephews who adored her. She was predeceased by her brother Peter Carlozzi.

Funeral services will begin Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 9 am from the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain, followed by the Funeral Liturgy at 10 am in Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St, Wethersfield. Entombment will follow in Saint Mary Cemetery. Visitation hours will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016 from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
