
Waltraut (Hanke) Rokycky, 82, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of Lubomyr Rokycky for 62 years, peacefully passed away at her home Saturday, December 31, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.
Waltraut was born November 20, 1934 and raised in Germany, one of six children to the late Kurt Robert and Else (Berger) Hanke. She and Lubomyr married in London, England in 1954 where they started their family. In 1957 the family immigrated to the United States and began their life in Hartford.
Prior to her retirement in 1999, Waltraut was employed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 33 years. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Hartford. Her greatest love in life was that of her husband and family. In addition to cherishing her time with her family, she was a great cook who loved to bake, sew, read and dance.

Waltraut will be dearly missed by her loving family, two sons and daughters-in-law and their families, Alexander and Patricia Rokycky of Manchester, Andrew and Svetlana Rokycky of Wethersfield, cherished grandchildren as well as two brothers, one sister and extended families in Germany. In addition to her parents, Waltraut was predeceased by two sisters.
Friends and relatives may pay respects to the Rokycky family on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 4-7pm at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd. Wethersfield. A Panachyda/Wake service will be celebrated by Fr. Pawlo Martyniuk at 6:00pm. A Funeral Liturgy celebrating Waltraut’s life will be held Wednesday, January 4th at 11am in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 125 Wethersfield Ave. in Hartford. (Attendees are asked to go directly to the church). Interment will follow the Liturgy in St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, New London Tpke, Glastonbury.
