Wethersfield Obituary: Yolanda Molloy, 90

Condolences to her family and friends.

On Friday, September 9, 2016, Yolanda C. Molloy, 90, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully with courage and dignity at Hartford Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Providence, RI on August 18, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John and Serafina (D’Ambra) Caprio. Yolanda graduated from Samuel Gorton High in Warwick, RI, in 1942. Prior to her retirement in 1989, Yolanda was employed by the Town of Wethersfield and the Wethersfield Board of Education for 30 years. She was a volunteer at the Old Academy Historical Society for many years.

Yolanda was a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was happiest surrounded by her family and friends. She was the heart and soul of her family and loved unconditionally. A truly remarkable woman who lived her life to the fullest.

Yolanda was an avid UConn Women’s Basketball and Red Sox fan. She also enjoyed cooking her favorite meals for her family and friends. Yolanda was recently honored at her 90th surprise birthday party with all of her family in attendance. It was a beautiful gathering and tribute to a wonderful woman.

Yolanda is survived by two daughters and their spouses, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren: Charlene & William Lemoine of Waukesha, WI, Sarah-Lee & Paul Whiteley of Kensington, Jason & Stephanie Winter of Lake Orion, MI, Jessica Winter and her partner Audrey Navarro of Tempe, AZ, Bret Lemoine of Brookfield, WI, Aric Whiteley of Astoria, NY, Brittany Whiteley of Kensington, Kyle Winter and Eva Winter and her sister, Elena Albert of Fitchburg, MA. Yolanda was predeceased by her husband Charles J. Molloy, daughter Deborah Johnston, and three brothers, Salvatore, Armando and Americo Caprio.

The family would like to thank Dr. Melissa Ferraro-Borgida and Dr. Andrew Schachter for the loving care and respect provided to our mother over the years and up to her passing. We would also like to thank the staff at Hartford Hospital, especially her nurse, Christine on Bliss 10, whose compassion and kindness made this difficult time much easier on Yolanda and her family. In addition, we would also like to thank Yolanda's caregivers, Karen and Silvia for their love and support and the ability to allow her to continue to live at home. You will forever be in our hearts. Rest in peace.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to meet at the church. Burial will follow immediately at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. There will be no calling hours.
