Wethersfield PD: Reckless Drivers Illegally Shut Down Intersection
The suspects got away Saturday night, but police are still investigating.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — Local police are investigating a late-night incident Saturday in which an intersection was illegally blocked by several motor vehicles who were "operating recklessly," police said.
According to a Wethersfield Police Department statement Sunday, the WPD received numerous 911 calls at about 10:57 p.m. Saturday reporting "numerous motor vehicles in the area of Jordan Lane and Wolcott Hill Road."
Police said the callers reported the occupants of the motor vehicles had blocked the intersection and were "operating recklessly in the roadway."

When police responded to the area, the motor vehicles scattered in various directions from the intersection.
"Responding officers were unable to conduct motor vehicle stops as numerous vehicles fled the area," wrote police.

Police said incidents like this will be targeted in future law enforcement operations, as they can jeopardize the safety of motorists and impact the quality of life of residents.
"The Wethersfield Police Department is committed to maintaining public safety on the roadways of Wethersfield and will be increasing its efforts in the enforcement of hazardous operations in the area," wrote the WPD.
Police said they believe Saturday's incident was a "spontaneous event" and it is still being investigated.
