Wethersfield Police Release Checkpoint Results

Hundreds of vehicles and drivers were checked.

WETHERSFIELD, CT - The Wethersfield Police Department has released statistics from last month's driving under the influence checkpoint on the Berlin Turnpike, south of Nott Street.

Here is a summary:

  • A total of 723 vehicles were briefly stopped by officers with 20 motorists being flagged by the officers for DUI testing or other investigative interviews.
  • 12 motorists were detained for DUI assessment.
  • Pre-exit tests were conducted on six motorists
  • Standardized Field Sobriety yielded insufficient probable cause in nine cases. There were three arrests for DUI.
  • One motorist was charged with possession of less than a half-ounce of a "cannabis-type substance."
  • Six motorists were charged with operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
  • One motorist was charged with driving without a license.
