Wethersfield Responders Honored For Saving Fire Victim

The incident happened July 31, with two police officers and three firefighters entering a burning building to save a non-ambulatory person.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — A quintet of heroic first responders were honored for their life-saving efforts earlier this summer at a fire that nearly turned tragic.

According to the Wethersfield Police Department Wednesday morning, the Wethersfield Town Council recognized the five Tuesday night.

Honored were WPD officers Mark Wildman and Jaysen Nunez, along with members of the Wethersfield Fire Department — retired WFD firefighter Thomas Lawton, firefighter Christopher Hock and firefighter Robert Sharkevich Sr.

According to police, the quintent July 31 "valiantly entered the structure fire, located a non-ambulatory victim, and removed the victim from the home."

"We commend these first responders for their bravery and going above and beyond in the line of duty," wrote the WPD Wednesday.
