Wethersfield Track Standout Gets Academic Honors

The honors were announced this week.

WETHERSFIELD, CT — Gace Gothers of Wethersfield was one of four members of the Southern Connecticut State University women's track and field program to be named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team.

Gothers competed at East Catholic High School and graduated in 2013.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division II indoor or outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard.

In total, 471 women earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for their combined academic and athletic accomplishments.

Gothers collected All-Region honors in the distance medley relay and was also a NE10 champion in the distance medley relay this past season. She was also honored for her work in the classroom as a selection to the NE10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
