Wethersfield Trail Project To Close Lanes On Route 3
Temporary lane closures will impact both northbound and southbound lanes of the state highway.
WETHERSFIELD, CT — Work on an $8.2 million trail project in the Wethersfield area will result in some lane closures on Route 3, state officials announced Tuesday.
As a result, state Department of Transportation officials said, there are expected lane closures on Route 3 southbound (towards Wethersfield) on Sundays through Fridays from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and on Route 3 northbound (towards Glastonbury), on Sundays through Fridays from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The lane closures are part of the Putnam Bridge Trail project.
This project includes the construction of bicycle and pedestrian facilities that will connect Great Meadow Road in Wethersfield and Naubuc Avenue Glastonbury to the existing trail located on the Route 3 Putnam Bridge.

The DOT has awarded the contract to Richards Corp. from Terryville, with a construction value of $8,207,115.
Construction activity has begun and project completion is anticipated in Fall 2023.
