WILTON, CT — The Wilton Police Department released its 2025 annual report this week, highlighting declines in several key public safety categories, including crime, motor vehicle thefts and crashes.
According to the report, reported Group A offenses dropped 9.9% year over year, falling from 272 in 2024 to 245 in 2025. Crimes against property declined 11.8%, police said.
Completed motor vehicle thefts also fell sharply, dropping 48% from 23 in 2024 to 12 in 2025 after reaching a 10-year high the previous year, according to the report.
Police additionally reported a 9% decrease in reportable crashes, with 367 crashes recorded in 2025. The town also recorded a second consecutive year without a fatal motor vehicle crash, according to the report.
The department said officers responded to 14,881 calls for service during the year and conducted 4,229 traffic stops focused on roadway safety and proactive enforcement.
In a statement included in the report, Deputy Chief Robert Cipolla said the data reflects more than statistics.
“Beyond the numbers is the deeper mission: protecting victims, supporting those in crisis, holding offenders accountable, and preserving the quality of life that defines our Wilton community,” Cipolla said.
The report also noted that use-of-force incidents declined from nine in 2024 to three in 2025. Police said 99.98% of documented public interactions involved no use of force.
According to the report, Wilton police also responded to 91 domestic-related incidents in 2025 and made 36 family violence arrests, a 9.1% increase year over year.
