Wilton Residents Urged To Conserve Water Under Drought Advisory

WILTON, CT — Wilton residents are being urged to voluntarily reduce water use after Fairfield County was placed under a Stage 2 Drought Advisory.

The advisory, issued by the Connecticut Interagency Drought Workgroup, reflects ongoing dry conditions affecting much of the state.

In a recent town newsletter, First Selectman Toni Boucher encouraged residents to take simple steps to conserve water, including limiting outdoor watering, repairing leaks and reducing unnecessary water use.

State officials use a tiered drought monitoring system ranging from normal conditions to drought emergency declarations. A Stage 2 advisory signals developing drought conditions and calls for increased conservation efforts.

While no mandatory restrictions are currently in place, officials said voluntary conservation can help protect water supplies if dry weather continues through the summer.
