WILTON, CT — Police seized cannabis products, nitrous oxide canisters and other drug-related items at a Wilton convenience store Wednesday, authorities said.
The Wilton Police Department's Detective Division executed a search warrant on July 29 at Kenan Convenience and Cigars on Danbury Road, according to police.
During the search, investigators recovered cannabis products, scales, cash, kratom products, 39 large nitrous oxide canisters, more than 400 nitrous oxide chargers, commonly known as "whippets," and balloons concealed inside the business, police said.
The employee working the counter and in control of the business when the warrant was executed was arrested and charged with multiple drug-related offenses, including possession of cannabis with intent to sell, possession of a controlled substance and sale of restricted substances, according to police.
The employee was released after posting bond and is scheduled to appear Aug. 12 in Stamford Superior Court, police said.
Wilton police thanked the Norwalk Police Department Special Services Unit and the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection's Cannabis Control Division for assisting with the investigation.
