5 Things To Know In Wilton: Belden Hill Retirement Community Plan Withdrawn, Danbury Road Projects

Wilton P&Z sees a Belden Hill retirement community plan withdrawn for pre-application review, plus two Danbury Road projects.

WILTON, CT — A developer has withdrawn its applications for a 280-unit continuing care retirement community on Belden Hill Road and is back before Wilton's Planning and Zoning Commission for an informal pre-application review, as the commission also weighs apartments and restaurants at 33 Danbury Road.

1. Belden Hill Retirement Community Applications Withdrawn; Developer Seeks Pre-Application Review
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m. (electronic meeting; livestreamed)
Where: Planning and Zoning office, Town Hall Annex, 238 Danbury Road
What to know: Hines SL Wilton Associates LP and SSND Real Estate Trust's public hearings on a 280-unit continuing care retirement community at 329, 331 and 345 Belden Hill Road, and on zoning definitions for such communities and weighted building height, are marked withdrawn on the agenda. The developer is instead on for a pre-application review, which under state law is not binding and can't be appealed, according to the agenda. Written comments go to P&Z staff by noon the day of the meeting.

2. Hearing On Apartments, Restaurants At 33 Danbury Road
When: Tuesday, Oct. 13, 7 p.m. (electronic meeting)
Where: Site: 33 Danbury Road
What to know: The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing and may act on CHEL Associates LLC's special permit for six second-floor apartments and two first-floor restaurants on the 0.9-acre property in the Design Retail Business District, according to the agenda.

3. Former Car Dealership Proposed As Landscaper Yard
When: Application received Tuesday, Oct. 13; public hearing to be scheduled
Where: Site: 655 Danbury Road
What to know: James Ferrone Landscaping Inc. has applied to convert a former car dealership at 655 Danbury Road into a landscaper contractor yard, according to the P&Z agenda. The commission will receive the application Tuesday and schedule a public hearing.

What to know: The Board of Finance meets Tuesday, according to the town calendar. The agenda had not been posted as of Thursday.

5. Fire Commission Interviews For New Hire
When: Monday, Oct. 12, 5 p.m. (Zoom)
Where: Online; the commission is based at Town Hall, 240 Danbury Road
What to know: The Fire Commission will hold a special meeting with an executive session for interviews for a new hire, then may act in open session; public comment is by Zoom, according to the agenda.
