WILTON, CT — A Redding woman was arrested after police said she threatened to release intimate videos of a Westport police lieutenant who lives in Wilton in an attempt to collect money from his wife amid a family dispute.

According to a Wilton police arrest warrant affidavit, the accused woman had previously been married to the lieutenant's brother-in-law. The dispute involved money she believed her former husband was owed from his family's estate.

Police said the lieutenant's wife received 18 threatening text messages in a family group chat on Aug. 4 while she was at her family's business on Danbury Road in Wilton.

The messages demanded that she pay her brother money from the family trust or face consequences, including the release of intimate videos of her husband.

One message threatened to send the videos to the Westport Police Department, where her husband works as a lieutenant, if the money was not paid within two weeks, according to the affidavit.

The lieutenant's wife reported the messages to Wilton police on Aug. 10.

She told investigators that her parents died in 2021, leaving her and her two brothers an estate that included the family's carpet business.

According to the affidavit, one of her brothers, who had previously been married to the accused woman, was removed from the estate, leading to ongoing disagreements over money.

The lieutenant later spoke with investigators and confirmed that the accused woman possessed intimate videos of him.

He told police he believed the threats were connected to $250,000 the accused woman had previously loaned her former husband, who was now unable to repay her.

Police contacted the accused woman on Aug. 17. According to the affidavit, she admitted sending the messages and said she was trying to defend her former husband, whom she believed had been treated unfairly.

She told investigators that watching her former husband be mistreated had "broke the camel's back," prompting her to send the messages.

The woman was charged with one count of second-degree harassment, and an arrest warrant was executed Oct. 15, according to court documents.
