Angry Bird

Police had who had been shooting out cars' side view mirrors in the Hulda Hill and Chicken Street area in mid June.

But now a new suspect rears its…beak.

Apparently, a woodpecker has been stalking its reflection in side view mirrors and, upon catching himself, shattering the mirrored glass with a furious pecking order. Police said that the puncture wound from the woodpecker's beak resembled that of a BB from a BB gun.

"A victim saw a red-headed woodpecker sitting on [his car's] side view mirror, and he believes that this woodpecker is responsible for pecking at the mirror," said Lieutenant Donald Wakeman of the Wilton Police Department.

"One of the other victims has also reported seeing a red-headed woodpecker on their property," said Wakeman. These two disparate sightings out of the four total broken-mirrored victims led police to believe that the red-headed narcissist is their primary suspect.

If this bird is indeed a red-headed woodpecker one, then it is an endangered species, according to the Department of Environmental Protection. It could also be one of several native woodpeckers, photos of which are attached to this article.

Police advise those living around the woodpecker's stomping grounds to cover their side view mirrors with shopping bags at night.
