Aquarion Withdraws Cannondale Well Diversion Permit in Wilton
The legality of Aquarion's plan had been called into question by attorneys for the town.
WILTON, CT — Aquarion Water Company announced today that it will withdraw its application with the state to remove one million gallons of water per day from a well in Cannondale at 3 Cannon Road.
The company said in a news release that the decision follows discussions with "Wilton town and state officials, environmental organizations, residents, and other stakeholders."
"Over the past several months, Aquarion has held a dialogue with both community stakeholders and the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) on the proposed diversion permit for our Cannondale well," said Dan Lawrence, Aquarion’s Director of Engineering and Planning, in the release.

"Given the feedback we’ve received and our ability to continue using our other water sources to ensure the reliable delivery of safe, clean, quality water to our customers, we will be withdrawing the permit application."
The town had retained attorney Stephen Studor, with the law firm Berchem Moses, who had questioned the legality of Aquarion's plan.
