Biking for Teen Moms invites all cyclists and runners to 3 long-distance challenges this summer in support of struggling Connecticut teen moms and their children. Athletes can choose to bike/run on July 24/25, August 21/22, or September 18/19. We challenge cyclists to bike a distance of an increment of 25 miles and runners to a 5k, 10k, half-marathon, or marathon!

Registration is free, but we ask all athletes to fundraise to support teen moms and their children during these challenging times. Every dollar raised goes directly towards delivering care packages called the LyfePact—More than a Box, Packed with a Promise. The LyfePact, delivered by Young Life, provides much-needed supplies like diapers, wipes, formula, and non-perishable foods. In addition, each LyfePact comes with a volunteer “attached” who mentors and invites the young mom to participate in the Young Life virtual community.

Young Life is a non-profit organization dedicated to guiding children to find their life purposes by meeting them where they are and caring for them, no matter their response. Their teen moms program, YoungLives, seeks out pregnant and parenting teen moms and empowers them by mentoring and teaching them sustainable practical skills.

“Sarah”, a 20-year-old Certified Nursing Assistant with a 2-year-old daughter living Danbury, wrote: “It is very stressful to have to work with people who have the possibility of dying every day and then come home to take care of my family. The food and mentoring care from my YoungLives volunteer has been greatly appreciated as I can’t always go shopping when needed, and the virtual community gatherings have been a big help...It has been rough times for many of us. I again want to express my greatest gratitude to YoungLives for all your help.”

We need YOUR support to help more struggling moms like Erica! While we cannot celebrate physically after each event, prizes will be awarded for the athlete with the most donors and the athlete with most funds raised!
