Good Morning. This is a message from the Town of Wilton’s Emergency Operations Center. This is Bill Brennan, First Selectman. Latest Storm information from State’s emergency management officials and meteorologists have advise that we can expect blizzard snow and high wind conditions over the next 24 hours. Therefore, please make immediate emergency preparations and be sure you have sufficient food, water and supplies to take care of every member of your family for at least three days. The state of CT has advised that major state roads will be closed effective 9:00PM this evening. Officials have advised that unless absolutely necessary, please stay in your homes and off the roads to allow plow trucks to clear the roads.

Wilton’s Emergency Shelter at Comstock Community Center has been prepared for use and will be open this evening. The Shelter’s information telephone number is (203) 216-8757. Road closures and other emergency information will be posted on the Town website and will be broadcasted on additional Code Red messages. Updated bulletins will also be posted at many locations in the town. All public safety departments have scheduled additional personnel to be on hand to deal with emergencies during this storm.

CL&P has also announced that they have arranged for additional resources to report into Connecticut by this afternoon. With forecasted winds gusting to 40MPH CL&P officials are predicting power outages due to downed power lines. Report every power outage to CL&P at 1-800-286-2000. If possible, obtain fresh batteries, candles and other supplies before the storm intensifies! And if candles are used during a power interruption, be very careful to avoid any accidental fire, as deteriorated road conditions due to heavy snowfall may impede fire vehicles ability to respond. This concludes this public emergency notification.
