Coronavirus Wilton: Library Cancels All March Programming

The Wilton Library will be postponing or canceling all of its programming for the month of March in consideration of the coronavirus.

WILTON, CT — The Town library will be postponing or canceling all of its programming for the month of March in consideration of the coronavirus.

The Connecticut Department of Public Health State Laboratory confirmed this weekend that the first presumptive positive case of COVID-19 involving a Connecticut resident was a Wilton resident.

"Given the circumstances in our community, we are taking a proactive approach across the board by postponing or canceling programs," Elaine Tai-Lauria, executive director of the Wilton Library said in a news release. "The library is the cultural and intellectual heart of this community, but we do not feel it is appropriate to encourage large scale gatherings at this time."

The building will remain open to patrons, and will continue to provide internet access "for people to be able to stay informed." Hand sanitizers are available throughout the building, Tai-Lauria said, and the library custodial staff will continue to disinfect public surfaces daily.

"We are here for people to utilize the services of the library on an individual basis. We only ask that people be considerate of others and if not feeling well, please be a hero and stay home."

The library is maintaining a coronavirus resource page.
