Fix Put to Leak at Wilton Transfer Station
The leak was first reported to DEEP in January.

A permanent fix was put to the problem of leaking hydraulic oil from a trash compactor at the Wilton Transfer Station in March, the Wilton Bulletin reports.
Leaks from the compactor were reported to the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection about two months ago by residents.
A DEEP inspector found that at least 10 gallons of hydraulic fuel had leaked, the Bulletin reports. The time period for how long the tank had been leaking could not be confirmed.

According to the paper, First Selectman Bill Brennan said the problem was not a big deal and the town had cleaned both the compactor and surrounding ground of hydraulic fuel and fixed the compactor. The compactor was reinstalled on March 11.
