Latest Wilton Coronavirus Update: 73 Active Cases

Here are the latest, local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Wilton.

WILTON, CT — The state Department of Public Health has confirmed there are 73 active cases of the new coronavirus in Wilton as of Sunday.

"If you have received a confirmed or presumptive positive test and you have not been contacted by the Wilton Health Department, please contact the department," First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice advised residents on the Town website.

Department members are most effectively reached through their email accessible on the Health Department's website, Vanderslice said.

Gov. Ned Lamont announced the total number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus in Connecticut reached 5,675 on Sunday and 189 people have died. Additionally, 1,142 people have been hospitalized since the inception of the pandemic last month.

According to state officials the surge of hospitalizations is now expected to be between April 26 through May 1 for Fairfield County. This means the hardest hit area of the state may still have more than three weeks of significant cases to be reported.
