Latest Wilton Coronavirus Updates: 42 Active Cases

Since Saturday, an additional 469 Connecticut residents tested positive​ for the new coronavirus, bringing the total to 1,993 cases.

WILTON, CT — The state Department of Public Health has confirmed there are 42 active cases of the new coronavirus in Wilton.

"Last week, the State's Epidemiologist and Director of Infectious Diseases wrote that he expects at least 10 percent of CT's population will get the virus in the next 6 to 8 weeks," Fire Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice posted Sunday on the Town website. "Will more than 1,800 Wilton residents get the virus in the next 5 to 7 weeks? We don't know. But, we do know the best way to stop the spread is to behave as if you have the virus and as if those around you do as well."

Since Saturday, an additional 469 Connecticut residents tested positive for the virus, bringing the total to 1,993 cases across the state, state officials said. Thirty-four people have died. One additional death was reported on Sunday. A total of 404 people have been hospitalized, and more than 11,900 Connecticut residents have been tested.

Vanderslice is now urging Wilton residents to limit themselves to only one family member at the same time per visit to a store, or restaurant for pickup.

Gov. Ned Lamont announced he was notified by the Federal Emergency Management Agency that his request for a Major Disaster Declaration for the State of Connecticut in response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been approved, unlocking additional federal assistance programs for the state.
