Latest Wilton Coronavirus Updates: 49 Active Cases

Here are the latest, local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Wilton.

WILTON, CT — The state Department of Public Health has confirmed there are 49 active cases of the new coronavirus in Wilton on Tuesday, up five from the day before.

Gov. Ned Lamont said Tuesday afternoon that another 557 residents have tested positive for the virus statewide, bringing the total to 3,128. Sixty-nine people have died, 16 more in the past 24 hours, and 608 have been hospitalized. The state tally includes an additional 17 fatalities previously unreported, which brings the total number of deaths in Connecticut to 69. He said state officials just learned of the 17 new deaths and announced them Tuesday. On Monday, 36 deaths were reported across the state.

First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice is "beyond frustrated with the continued use of closed recreation facilities by adults, teens and children," she posted on the Town website.

As a result, the Town is taking the following additional measures:

  • Additional non-essential personnel will be patrolling the fields, the track and playground.
  • Greater impediments will be installed to prevent their use.
  • Any remaining rims, nets or such will be removed.

"We now have the data from the experts. We are seeing what is happening in Wilton and our neighboring communities. Please, follow the rules. Please behave as if you have the virus and as if those around you do as well. Do it for yourself, your family, your parents and grandparents and those of your fellow Wilton community members," Vanderslice said.
