Man Charged with DUI in Wilton After Running Red Light: Police

Police said the man failed standardized field sobriety tests.

A Norwalk man is facing charges for driving under the influence after he drove through a red light the intersection of Danbury Road and School Street, police said.

Police stopped Michael Papp, 24, of Norwalk on Jan. 23 around 4 a.m. after he drove through the red light. After speaking with him, police said they could smell alcohol on his breath.

He failed standardized field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest, police said. After an inventory of his car, police found a glass smoking pipe and 0.1 ounces of marijuana.

Papp’s blood alcohol level was 0.0411. He also submitted to a urine test that was sent to the state lab for toxicology results.

He was charged with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, failure to carry insurance and failure to obey control signal. He was released on a promise to appear in court Feb. 2.
