Town of Wilton Coronavirus Update-July 29

CT DPH reported daily case data of 70 new cases, 12,367 new tests and previously unreported cases and tests of 384 and 750 on July 29.

July 29th – Today, CT DPH reported daily case data of 70 new cases, 12,367 new tests and previously unreported cases and tests of 384 and 750, respectively. Those previously unreported tests were performed between April and June and newly reported to CT DPH.

Other highlights from the report as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday July 28th versus the previous day’s report:

  • Wilton: 3 additional cases reported.
  • Fairfield County: 249 additional cases reported
  • Hospitalized Patients: Statewide, 1-net patient decrease. Fairfield County, 1-net patient increase.
  • Deaths: Statewide, 2 deaths. Fairfield County, 1 death.

On today’s call with the Governor’s team, the Commissioner of Education shared that tomorrow he will be releasing COVID-19 benchmarks for local school districts. The benchmarks are expected to be in the form of regional color-coded guidance based on positive case rates.

This morning, the Senate completely their passage of the four bills considered during the Special Sessions. The bills move on to the Governor. As I shared in yesterday’s update, I received a number of questions about the legal implications of the proposed police accountability bill. , CT’s Conference of Municipalities (CCM) held an informational webinar with two experienced trial attorneys, both of whom have represented Wilton. The CT Data Center reported the following for Wilton as of 8:30 p.m. July 28th and versus the dates prior to the start of Phase 1 and Phase 2:

  • 238 cases, 31 additional since June 16th and 38 since May 19th.
  • 2,570 residents tested, 1,420 since June 16th and 1,820 since May 19th.
  • 3,375 tests performed, 1,923 since June 16th .
  • 42 deaths, 1 since June 16th and 5 since May 19th.

CT DPH reported the following for Fairfield County and Statewide as of 8:30 p.m. July 28th:

  • 17,773 cases, 1,352 additional since 6/16 49,540 cases, 4,634 additional since 6/16
  • 1,404 deaths, 52 additional since 6/16 4,425 deaths, 206 additional since 6/16
  • 19 hospitalized, 49 less than 6/16 53 hospitalized, 133 less than 6/16
