Wilton Library Going to the Dogs

The library has two programs catering to Man's Best Friend the Saturday!

WILTON, CT --- The Wilton Library is offering two back-to-back programs for dog lovers on Saturday, April 28.

From 11:00 a.m. to noon, ROAR's (Ridgefield Operation Animal Rescue) Therapy Dog Program will be bringing a therapy dog to be read to by children. The use of trained therapy dogs in reading programs can result in children who feel comfortable reading out loud, read more often, attempt more difficult books, and look forward to reading. As they improve their literacy skills, they’re not just learning how to read, they’re learning to love to read! Children must read independently to participate in this program. No program charge, registration is required. Register online or call 203-762-6336.

Immediately following, from noon to 2:00 p.m., the library invites you to embroider a bandanna for your pet. In a one-on-one session, they will introduce you to an embroidery machine and personalize a pet bandanna for your furry friends. Bandannas come in a rainbow of colors and are available for $2 each, payable on arrival. The program is for 7th graders to adults and 6th graders accompanied by adults who are willing to learn too. You must have a valid CT library card and signed Innovation Station Agreement Form. Please bring the completed form to the workshop. Registration required. Register online or call 203-762-6342.
