Wilton May Reinstate Merwin Meadows Park Fees for Residents: Report
A regulation allowing free use of the park could be on the town's chopping block as it tries to increase revenue and scale back spending.

WILTON, CT — Residents may soon have to pay for the use of Merwin Meadows Park, just over one year after a regulation was passed allowing the free use of the park, reports the Hour.
Shrinking state revenues and rising town debt services on the rise, the Board of Selectmen has asked the Parks and Recreation Department to increase revenues from the park by $30,000 over the next year. The department then proposed reinstating the park pass fee for residents.
The town had changed the policy last year allowing residents to obtain seasonal or day passes at no charge, as well as purchase guest passes. Town officials cited the financial climate of the state as a significant factor in the reason for the potential move.
