Wilton Woman Accused of Stealing $50K of Children's Social Security: Police

The arrest was a result of a joint investigation with Wilton Police and the Social Security Administration, Office of the Inspector General.

Wilton police arrested a woman on larceny and forgery charges on Feb. 23, according to a police report.

In a joint investigation with Wilton Police and the Social Security Administration - Office of the Inspector General, Jane Powell 56, of Wilton, was taken into police custody on an arrest warrant.

An investigation revealed that the accused is alleged to have taken approximately $50,000.00 from her children’s social security benefits, police said. Powell surrendered to Wilton police and was arraigned in court on Feb. 23 in lieu of a $50,000 cash bond.
