Woodcock Nature Center in Wilton Searching for Summer Volunteers

WILTON, CT — The Woodcock Nature Center has announced the following volunteer positions are still available for the summer:
Summer Camp Counselor In Training (CIT)

CIT's assist the summer camp counselors in providing a safe and fun camp experience. They will help facilitate activities, games, crafts, songs, stories, hikes, and more. In addition to supervising campers, CITs also assist with camp preparation and clean-up, and will serve as a positive role model for the campers. CITs must be 14 or older and have had experience working with children (babysitting, tutoring, etc). CITs must commit to at least one full week (Monday-Friday) of camp and be able to attend a mandatory training prior to the start of camp. Hours range from 8:45-1:15 or 9:15-3:15. Applicants must be enthusiastic about camp, enjoy working with children, animals, and the natural environment! There is a fee for first year CITs of $150 to cover training expenses. This is an unpaid position.

Education Volunteer (Winter or Spring)
Woodcock is now accepting applications for Spring 2019.
Woodcock is looking for enthusiastic students who are interested in environmental topics (Biology, Zoology, Ecology, Environmental Science, etc.) and or education (any age level) for an internship assisting our educators. The nature center has after school programs for students from Kindergarten all the way through middle school. Volunteers will assist in helping to run after school and with the full time educators. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain experience and knowledge that could benefit them in pursuing further studies and careers.
Responsibilities:
- Monitoring the students who come to the programs with the educator
- Working one on one with students and answering questions they may have or helping them find the answer
- Assist in the planning and execution of programs
- Participate in set up and break down of programs
Qualifications:
- Must be 15 years of age or older
- Interest in the environment and or education
- Experience working with younger kids and teenagers
- Comfort working with different animals and in the natural environment
- Available at least one afternoon a week

Marketing & Development Internship
Woodcock is currently accepting applications for Spring and/or Summer 2019.
Woodcock Nature Center seeks an intern to assist in its small but busy administrative office with a variety of projects, including: donor research and correspondence; marketing projects related to promoting programs events; maintenance of fundraising and email databases; fundraising event support and other clerical tasks.
This is an excellent opportunity for college students and/or recent college graduates with a background and interest in the environment, nature, education, non-profit administration, marketing and fundraising. Qualified candidates will be independent; organized; possess excellent writing, computer and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated interest in nature; and be enthusiastic and flexible.
This is an unpaid internship. Two days per week minimum. Approximately 9 am to 2pm. Dates and times flexible. Send a letter of interest and resume to Lenore Herbst at lenore@woodcocknaturecenter.org
High School Volunteer Research Projects
Weoodcock is currently accepting students.
Woodcock Nature Center is looking for local high school students who want to volunteer and do research. This is an excellent opportunity for students looking to gain valuable college resume builders, and developing scientific skills.
