WINDSOR, CT — A new indoor trampoline and adventure park has received town approval for a Windsor Avenue retail space, according to Windsor Town Planning and Zoning Commission records.
The commission approved a special use application in October for FUN Max Adventure Park at 560 Windsor Avenue, according to town documents.
Carmelo Rosa of Hibbard & Rosa Architects represented FUN Max Adventure Park owner He Lin before the commission, according to approved meeting minutes. Rosa described the proposal as an indoor trampoline park with trampolines, playgrounds, party rooms and arcades.
The proposed facility includes about 43,323 square feet on the main floor and about 10,953 square feet in a basement area, according to commission minutes.
The plans filed with the town describes the proposed business as a trampoline park open seven days a week. The plans said the facility would have 25 employees per shift, with two shifts per day: 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
FUN Max’s Simsbury location gives a sense of the company’s broader indoor-adventure concept. According to the company’s website for that location, Fun Max Adventure Park offers attractions including dodgeball, a ninja course, rock wall, foam pits, a four-level playground, trampolines, arcade games and basketball.
The company’s website describes the trampoline park concept as a family-oriented space built around entertainment and physical activity, with interconnected trampolines, foam pits and other attractions.
Town records also show the applicant was told an amendment would be needed to allow more than six mechanical amusement devices, such as pinball machines, basketball, skee-ball, air hockey and claw machines.
Rosa told the commission that any asbestos or hazardous material would be abated, and that exterior renovations would be limited to moving the front entrance vestibule and adding new signage with the FUN Max logo, according to meeting minutes.
The commission approved the special use for five years, subject to the resolution of any outstanding issues with town staff. The vote was 5-0.
The town records reviewed by Patch did not include an opening date or confirm whether construction has started.
