WINDSOR, CT — Windsor’s 250th celebration has been pushed back one week because of the dangerous heat expected later this week, town officials said.
The event, originally scheduled for Thursday, July 2, will now be held Thursday, July 9, on the Town Green, according to the Town of Windsor.
The celebration is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and will include karaoke by Tomaca, food trucks, a farmers market and a vendor fair.
A concert featuring the Savage Brothers is scheduled for 6 p.m.
The postponement comes as Connecticut is expected to face several days of extreme heat and humidity. WFSB reported Wednesday through Sunday are First Alert Weather Days, with inland temperatures expected to reach the mid-90s to around 100 degrees and heat index values potentially reaching 100 to 110 degrees during the afternoon.
WFSB also reported air quality may become unhealthy for sensitive groups because of elevated ground-level ozone.
Officials urged residents to stay hydrated, limit time outside and be mindful of pets during the heat wave.
