WINDSOR, CT — Windsor Public Schools is reminding families that free summer meals are available for children 18 and under through the Connecticut Summer Meals Program.
The program runs Monday through Friday from June 22 through Aug. 21, with no service July 3, according to the district.
Meals are available at two Windsor locations:
Sharshon Park, 38 Skitchewaug St., from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
John Fitch Park, 156 Bloomfield Ave., from noon to 12:45 p.m.
The program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered by the Connecticut State Department of Education. Meals are free for any child 18 and under.
Due to federal program rules, children must be present to receive a meal. Parents or guardians may not pick up meals on behalf of children, and meals must be eaten on site. Grab-and-go meals are not permitted.
The district said it hopes families take advantage of the summer food program during school break.
