Bring A Donation To Thursday’s Windsor Concert

The Food & Fuel Bank is seeking food, diapers, toilet paper and other essentials.

WINDSOR, CT — People attending Thursday night's free concert on the Windsor Town Green are being asked to bring nonperishable food or a monetary donation for the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank.

Soul Afire will perform from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Aug. 6 as part of First Town Downtown's Concerts on the Green series. Food bank volunteers will accept donations at tables near the stage.

The drive is being coordinated by Windsor residents Joyce and Dick Armstrong, who have sponsored food collections during the summer concert series for the past four years.

"Hunger does not take a summer vacation, and there are many Windsor residents who need some help right now," Joyce Armstrong said in a release.

The Food & Fuel Bank said its most-needed donations include peanut butter and jelly, pasta and sauce, macaroni and cheese, canned meats, crackers, cereal, baked beans, canned vegetables and fruit, juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and condiments. It is also seeking paper towels, tissues, toilet paper, diapers and baby wipes.

The nonprofit works to help ensure Windsor residents do not go hungry, cold or without basic necessities. Residents who need food assistance can call Windsor Social Services at 860-285-1839 on weekdays.
