Eversource Helicopters To Inspect Power Lines Over Windsor

Residents may notice low-flying helicopters Thursday as crews check high-voltage transmission corridors for potential problems.

WINDSOR, CT — Windsor residents may notice helicopters flying over parts of town Thursday as Eversource conducts inspections of its high-voltage transmission system.

The inspections are scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 3, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., weather permitting, according to an announcement from Eversource.

Crews will patrol transmission line rights-of-way and look for vegetation, equipment conditions and other issues that could threaten electric reliability.

Eversource said the flights are part of its year-round work to maintain the electric grid and prepare for storms.

Residents may see one of two aircraft: a blue-and-white helicopter with tail number N411DD or a navy-and-silver helicopter with tail number N1431W.

Windsor is one of 22 Connecticut communities included in the inspection area. Other nearby towns on the list include Bloomfield, Hartford, East Hartford and South Windsor.

The flight schedule is subject to change because of weather.
