Windsor's Brian Shactman Elected to CT Convention & Sports Bureau (CTMEETINGS) Board

Windsor resident Brian Shactman has been elected to the Board of the Connecticut Convention & Sports Bureau (CTMEETINGS) – the State's official meetings and sports event sales and marketing organization. Shactman is an award-winning Connecticut-based broadcaster at Audacy and WFSB-TV 3. Also elected to the Board this summer were Shannon Frost, Director of Marketing Operations, Special Events, and Special Projects for the City of Hartford, and Jeff Pugliese, Director of Community Relations at Eversource Energy.

Murdock reported that bookings by CTMEETINGS in FY26 generated over $75 Million in revenue* for the state, as visitors stayed in Connecticut hotels, dined in restaurants, shopped and enjoyed attractions. More than 24,200 jobs* in the state's hospitality industry were supported, and over $4,895,000 in Connecticut taxes were generated*. (*per Destinations International economic calculator)

Brian Shactman is an award-winning broadcaster. His journalism career began in the late 1990's, helping to develop ESPN's internet presence during the dot-com boom. From there, he transitioned to local news at NBC Connecticut, where he won an Associated Press award for his documentary on UCONN Basketball Coach Geno Auriemma, before moving on to New York to report and anchor for CNBC and MSNBC. In 2015, Brian returned to his hometown of Boston to anchor for NECN and NBC Boston. Ever restive, after his wife took a job in Connecticut, he made his most recent transition. He now hosts WTIC-AM 1080's (Audacy) morning radio program, Brian & Company, and he anchors two Eyewitness News shows at WFSB Channel 3, the CBS-TV affiliate for Hartford-New Haven. Along the way, Brian has served as lead correspondent on documentaries – ranging from tobacco to the fracking boom to the opioid epidemic – as well as covering three Olympic Games, and just about every major sporting event. The Windsor, Conn. resident received a Master's degree in English Literature from Clark University and a Bachelor's degree in English/History from Amherst College.
