Familiar Radio Voices Have A New Windsor Home

The move adds another chapter to WTIC's studio history, from Hartford's Travelers building to Farmington and now Windsor.

WINDSOR, CT — Four Audacy radio stations are moving from Farmington to Windsor, with familiar on-air personalities celebrating their new studios at 175 Addison Road and saying goodbye to their longtime home.

The move includes WTIC NewsTalk 1080, 96.5 TIC, Lite 100.5 WRCH and Hot 93.7 WZMX. The Laurel reported the four-station relocation Oct. 19, and social media announcements from station personalities also document the move.

WRCH's Mike Stacy reflected on the departure in a Facebook post that began: "32 years at 10 Executive Drive in Farmington." Stacy said Lite 100.5 WRCH would move to Windsor in a matter of days.

Stacy hosts WRCH's "Mike & Mary" morning show with Mary Scanlon.

WTIC's Earlier Homes

The Windsor move adds another stop to a studio history stretching back more than a century.

WTIC began broadcasting Feb. 10, 1925, according to the WTIC Alumni archive's station history. Its original studios occupied the sixth floor of the Travelers building on Grove Street in Hartford, according to the archive's account of the 1999 move.

The alumni archive's timeline of WTIC locations traces the subsequent moves:

A familiar piece of the station's past made the latest trip, too. The Laurel reported that "The Broadcaster" statue, which once greeted visitors at WTIC's Hartford radio and television offices, was moved to the new location ahead of the studio debut.

The Laurel reported that the sales department began working in Windsor Oct. 19. Citing station insiders, the outlet said the relocation was intended to reduce leasing costs.
