Windsor High School student Nathan Sewell was recognized as a 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program semifinalist at the Board of Education meeting Tuesday, Oct. 20. According to Windsor Public Schools' meeting recap, Sewell was also introduced as the board's spring semester student representative.
The board approved a first reading of the high school's proposed 2027-2028 Program of Studies, which includes course updates and additions across several academic departments. Discussion will continue at the board's November meeting, according to the district.
Separately, the board adopted a new art curriculum for kindergarten through second grade and a revised pre-calculus curriculum. It approved the first readings and waived second readings, allowing immediate adoption.
Following fiscal 2025-26 year-end savings, the board voted 6-2, with one abstention, to establish a nonlapsing account under Connecticut General Statutes Section 10-248a. District administration also presented an annual residency report outlining verification procedures and timelines for collecting Certificates of Residency from families living with town residents.
After an executive session, the board unanimously ratified a collective bargaining agreement with UPSEU Local 424, Unit 103, according to the district recap. The agreement covers custodial, maintenance, food service and safety monitor employees.
