DUNKIN’ DONUTS FRANCHISE GROUP DONATES $2K TO BLOOMFIELD HIGH SCHOOL AND $1K TO FIDELCO

Dwight Freeney Day Sweepstakes marks Grand Opening celebration of new Bloomfield restaurant

BLOOMFIELD, Conn. (December 4, 2012) – To celebrate the grand opening of their newest Bloomfield restaurant, the Zafiris family franchise group staged a fundraising effort for the local high school.  The sweepstakes featured items signed by Dwight Freeney, Bloomfield High School alum and seven-time Pro Bowl linebacker, who currently plays for the Indianapolis Colts.  For a $5 donation to the Bloomfield High School Athletics Department, guests could enter to win one of 15 pieces of autographed memorabilia, including jerseys, helmets, photos, and footballs.

The sweepstakes concluded on December 4, with Dunkin’ Donuts franchisees Jim, Ted, Christina, and Ray Zafiris presenting a $2,000 donation to Bloomfield High School, accepted by Principal Sam Galloway and Athletic Director Tammy Schondelmayer.  The lucky sweepstakes winners were announced that day, dubbed “Dwight Freeney Day,” by Hot 93.7’s D.J. Buck, also a Bloomfield resident.  The event also included free Freeney-themed donuts and free medium hot coffee coupons for customers, and was attended by Bloomfield Mayor Sydney T. Schulman.

But the giving did not end there; the franchisees also presented a $1,000 donation to The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, accepted by CEO Eliot D. Russman, Director of Communications Sharon Burke, Director of Training Tommy Mourad, and Early Puppy Development Representative Maureen Ericson, who brought a few guide-dogs-in-training to complete the festivities.

Located at the old Three Brothers restaurant location at 1298 Blue Hills Avenue, Bloomfield, this restaurant is a welcome new look for Dunkin’ Donuts, featuring state-of-the-art digital menu boards, free Wi-Fi, and lounge-style seating with sofas and chairs in front of a cozy fireplace.
